Thomas Tetu, Schenck High School interim principal, has announced the honor parts for the Class of 2004. Graduation will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 5, in the Schenck High School gymnasium.
Julie Erin Faloon, daughter of Barbara and Peter Faloon of Medway, has been named the valedictorian for the Class of 2004. She will attend the University of Maine to study civil engineering.
She has been a member of the National Honor Society for the past three years and is currently the treasurer. She has been a student council representative for three years, a member of the first-place math team in Eastern Maine for 2000-01, a top 10 individual in Eastern Maine Math League competition in 2000-01, a Girls’ State participant in 2003, Who’s Who Among American High School Students 2003, and a recipient of a Bausch & Lomb Honorary Science award as well as a University of Maine scholars achievement award in 2003.
Faloon has been active for four years in soccer, the spring musical, foreign language club, band, softball, tennis and the yearbook, including co-assistant editor in grade 11 and co-editor in grade 12. She was a vacation Bible school assistant in grade nine and a volunteer model for the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America fashion show in grades 11 and 12. She is an accomplished pianist and all-state audition candidate on trumpet in grades 11 and 12.
Jennifer Marie Davis, daughter of Judy and James Davis of East Millinocket, has been named the salutatorian for the Class of 2004. She will attend St. Thomas University in Fredericton, New Brunswick, to study English.
She has been a member of the National Honor Society for the past three years, participated in math league, softball, band, youth ministry and the yearbook staff for four years. She was co-assistant editor of the yearbook her junior year and co-editor her senior year. She was a Dirigo Girls State delegate in 2003.
Davis has received the University of Rochester Humanities-Social Sciences award, was a Princeton Book award nominee and a Global Young Leaders Conference nominee, won the Williams College Book award, named to Who’s Who Among American High School Students, and won the Maine Scholar award, Maine Principal’s award and the Timothy award. She has worked part time for the local recreation department, has volunteered as pee-wee basketball scorekeeper, youth basketball, soccer and Lassie league coach, Vision Committee delegate, Eucharistic minister, vacation Bible school teacher, and Christian Leadership Institute delegate.
Kristy Marie Austin, daughter of Marvin Austin of East Millinocket and Marlene Bouchard of Dover-Foxcroft, has been named first honor essayist for the Class of 2004. She will attend the University of Maine at Orono with an undecided major.
She has been a member of the National Honor Society and Family, Career and Community Leaders of America for the past three years, honors math league, yearbook staff for two years and foreign language club for one year. She received a Building Community Through the Arts participation award, as well as Who’s Who Among American Students.
She has volunteered at the Clothing Bank in Medway, assisted the Helping Hands organization, and participated in the FCCLA fashion show and American Red Cross Blood Drive the past three years.
Jessica Brooke Day, daughter of Lorie Land of Woodville and David Day of Presque Isle, has been named second honor essayist for the Class of 2004. She will attend the University of Maine at Orono with an undecided major.
She has been a member of the National Honor Society, foreign language club, peer counseling, varsity softball, soccer, cheerleading, basketball and the yearbook staff.
Day is the senior class president, a Region III class officer, Jobs for Maine’s Graduates-coordinator of career development representative, a Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership nominee and ambassador, and team captain in varsity soccer and softball. She also was selected to the Penobscot Valley Conference All-Star Team in both soccer and softball. She attended Upward Bound and has volunteered time to the American Red Cross, East Millinocket recreation department and the Maine Children’s Discovery Museum.
Jessie Lynn Powers, daughter of Rhonda and Clinton Powers of East Millinocket, has been named third honor essayist for the Class of 2004. She will attend the University of Southern Maine to study business management.
She has been an honor roll student and a member of the cheerleading squad for the past four years. For three years she was a member of the student council and also participated in the foreign language club, yearbook and Jobs for Maine’s Graduates. During her senior year she was a representative for the State Advisory Task Force to keep youth in Maine. She has volunteered for the American Red Cross blood drive, senior citizens dinners, the local police department and the East Millinocket recreation department.
Carrabec High School, North Anson
James Weggler, principal of Carrabec High School, has announced the honor parts for the Class of 2004. Graduation will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 6, in the Carrabec High School gymnasium.
Trey Gaw, son of Deborah Gaw of Madison and Brian Gaw of Dover-Foxcroft, has been named valedictorian for the Class of 2004. He will attend Bentley College in Waltham, Mass., to study business.
He has been recognized in numerous sports, clubs and activities. He has led his class for his four years at Carrabec High School He has been employed by MBNA.
Marcie Williams, daughter of Richard and Lorelei Williams of North Anson, has been named salutatorian for the Class of 2004. She will attend the University of Maine in Orono to study kinesiology.
She has been recognized for her achievements in sports and as president of her class. She has been on the honor roll each ranking period of her high school career.
