SOUTH PORTLAND – A Gorham man who was driving the wrong way on Interstate 295 was killed Thursday in a head-on collision, state police said.
Donald Dedoes, 72, was not supposed to be driving because his license had been suspended after he suffered a stroke, said Stephen McCausland, spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety.
Dedoes apparently drove across Veteran’s Bridge on the wrong side of the highway and continued on the wrong way on I-295, McCausland said.
A Bath couple in a Jeep Wrangler were injured in the collision and were taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland.
