Qualey, Barnett help Minutemen knock off Mattanawcook

MILLINOCKET – Adam Qualey allowed one run on four hits and one walk while striking out seven to help lead Stearns to a 4-1 schoolboy baseball victory over previously unbeaten Mattanawcook Academy Tuesday.

Matt Barnett hit a double and two singles for the Minutemen. Steve Cyr and Ryan Bouchard each hit added an RBI single.

Tyler Gardner had two singles for the Lynx.

At Pittsfield, Jake Lasselle allowed only four hits and three walks while striking out two to help lead Maine Central Institute to the win.

Phil Hendricks hit a home run, double and a single to drive in three runs for MCI. Marty Quint, Victor Quint, and Jeremy West each had three singles and Lasselle hit a two-run double to end the game.

At Brewer’s Heddericg Field, Evan Economy and Corey Cushing combined on a six-hitter, striking out eight and walking three, as Brewer collected its 13th win.

Ben Davis double and run-scoring singles by Andrew Patterson and Kevin Kotredes gave Brewer the lead for good in the third inning.

Patterson finished with two singles and Andrew Otis had a run-scoring double.

Chris St. Louis had two singles for Old Town.

Dusty Thomas hit a solo home run in the fourth inning for Orono.

At Greenville, Mark Gaudet pitched a one-hitter, striking out 13, and also scored the winning run in the eighth inning for the Cavaliers.

Tyler Giberson singled twice and scored two runs for Valley of Bingham.

Ryan Edmondson had a single for the Lakers.

Ashley Currier’s two singles, Macky Sullivan’s triple and Kasey Dodge’s RBI double led Maine Central Institute.

Megean Tweedie had an RBI single for Piscataquis and Abbie Galuski singled and scored.

Cassie White had three singles with an RBI for Hermon. Shannon Wiggin doubled and singled and Marissa McLeod had two singles.

At Millinocket, Ashley Emery tied the game 5-5 in the ninth inning when she singled, driving in two runs. Kasse Brown followed, singling and bringing in the winning run for the Lynx.

Jaide Littlefield added two singles for Mattanawcook Academy of Lincoln.

Deanna Michaud, Leslie Osborne and Jenny Powers each singled twice for the Minutemen.

Michaella Bartley had a homer, double and single and knocked in a run; Skylar Towle singled twice with two RBIs and Kelly Bolen singled twice and had an RBI.

Melanie Vicnaire and Whitney Strickland singled for Valley of Bingham.

At Brewer, Kate Hanlon tied the game on a fielder’s choice and scored the winning run on a bases-loaded walk for Brewer.

Kim Foster hit a RBI double for the Witches and Sarah DeFillip singled. DeFillip gave up two runs on three hits and one walk while striking out three.

Sara Jones doubled and singled to drive in two runs for Old Town and Jen Higgins singled.
