Fort Fairfield’s Strout pitches Tigers to win

FORT FAIRFIELD – Fort Fairfield pitcher Brittney Strout struck out eight batters and allowed just one hit after the first inning to help Fort Fairfield edge Limestone 6-5 in softball action Wednesday.

Limestone/Maine School of Science and Mathematics jumped out to a 3-0 first-inning lead as Lindsay Beaulieu tripled home two runs and scored on a single by Vicki Mulherin.

Fort Fairfield scored twice in the bottom of the first and took a 4-3 lead in the second via Kaylee Searles’ RBI single.

At Madawaska, Erin Pelletier doubled and singled for two RBIs while Sarah Nadeau tripled and singled for one RBI.

Andrea M. Cyr and Andrea K. Cyr each singled twice for the Owls.

Karie Ouellette had a double, two singles and three RBIs while Lisa Levasseur added a double, two singles and one RBI for the Crusaders. Amy Vaillancourt had a double, a single and three RBIs. Megan Ouellette added two singles.

Fort Kent 18, Wisdom 2

At Fort Kent, Keisha Hart doubled and singled twice as the Warriors earned their first home victory of the season.

Melissa Morneault and Leah Babin each had three singles for Fort Kent, while Kristyn Labrie doubled and singled, Monique Labbe singled twice and Melissa Michaud tripled.

Kayla Daigle doubled for Wisdom of St. Agatha.

At Blue Hill, Brandy Winters hit two doubled and a single and had four RBIs for host George Stevens Academy.

Patty Lymburner added two singles, two RBIs and three runs scored, while Christy Moon added two singles, one RBI and three runs scored.

Regyn Lawry and Anna Boyce each had an RBI single for Deer Isle-Stonington.

At Calais, Natasha Ritchie gave up just two hits while striking out 12 to help lead Houlton to the shutout win.

Anna Lenentine hit two triples and a single to drive in a run for Houlton and Michelle Ives hit a RBI single in the sixth inning.

Chrissy Driscoll and Darcey Gillespie each singled for Calais.

At Presque Isle, Danielle Grenier spun a no-hitter with five strikeouts and three walks in a five-inning win for the Wildcats.

Shawna Nadeau knocked a two-run single for Presque Isle. Danielle Dyer had two singles with two RBIs while Beth McGlinn notched two doubles and three RBIs.

At Ashland, Cora Campbell and Amber Smith each slammed three-run homers to lead the Hornets to the win.

Campbell added two doubles and Smith two singles for Ashland. Danielle Lang doubled and singled twice.

Stevie Fletcher hit an RBI single for the Panthers of Mars Hill and Sammy Brewer notched a triple and a single.

At Danforth, the Dragons pounded out 22 hits, including a three singles and a double from Katie Smith, en route to the win.

Smith drove in five runs for Woodland. Megan Lord had four RBIs on a home run and a triple. Kelsey Snowman doubled twice and singled for two RBIs, while Tiffany Wormell hit three singles.

Elishia Dodge smacked a two-run double for the Vikings. Ryanne Flannery hit three singles.

Machias 2, Jonesport-Beals 1

At Harrington, Sean Robbins knocked in Chase Ross on a single in the bottom of the seventh inning to give Machias the win.

Isaiah Roberts hit a RBI triple to tie the game in the sixth inning for Machias. Chris Correll and James McCarthy each had two singles.

Derrick Beal had a RBI triple for Jonesport-Beals and Timmy Holmes hit three singles.

At Fort Fairfield, freshman righthander Jake Kenneson pitched a five-inning no-hitter with 10 strikeouts for the Tigers.

Brandon Levasseur hit an inside-the-park home run for Fort Fairfield, while Tyler Bernaiche and Jon Everett each singled twice.

At Van Buren, Matt Gagnon’s three-run double with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning gave the host Crusaders the victory.

Gagnon finished with three doubles and a single, and also pitched a seven-hitter with nine strikeouts.

Trevor Hews added a two-run double to highlight a six-run rally in the fifth inning, and also singled and hit a sacrifice fly.

Peter Gerard hit a two-run double and two singles for Madawaska, while David Butler singled twice.

At Ashland, Andrew York struck out nine and hit a double and a single to drive in three runs to lead Central Aroostook past Ashland.

Bryan Grew hit a three-run home run in the second inning for the Panthers and Eric Martinez hit a triple and two singles. Tim Devaney doubled and singled and Eric Grivois had two singles.

Chris Long singled twice for the Hornets.

At Fort Kent, Tyler Marquis doubled, singled and plated a pair of runs as the Warriors outslugged the Pioneers.

Adam Jandreau had a double, single and RBI for Fort Kent and Bud Soucy added two singles.

Brandon Cyr knocked a three-run homer for Wisdom of St. Agatha while Jeff Paradis hit a two-run homer and three singles.
