FORT FAIRFIELD – Fort Fairfield pitcher Brittney Strout struck out eight batters and allowed just one hit after the first inning to help Fort Fairfield edge Limestone 6-5 in softball action Wednesday.
Limestone/Maine School of Science and Mathematics jumped out to a 3-0 first-inning lead as Lindsay Beaulieu tripled home two runs and scored on a single by Vicki Mulherin.
Fort Fairfield scored twice in the bottom of the first and took a 4-3 lead in the second via Kaylee Searles’ RBI single.

Elishia Dodge smacked a two-run double for the Vikings. Ryanne Flannery hit three singles.

At Harrington, Sean Robbins knocked in Chase Ross on a single in the bottom of the seventh inning to give Machias the win.

At Van Buren, Matt Gagnon’s three-run double with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning gave the host Crusaders the victory.
Gagnon finished with three doubles and a single, and also pitched a seven-hitter with nine strikeouts.
Trevor Hews added a two-run double to highlight a six-run rally in the fifth inning, and also singled and hit a sacrifice fly.
Peter Gerard hit a two-run double and two singles for Madawaska, while David Butler singled twice.
