Harris slams Calais, leads Lee to victory

CALAIS – Kerri Harris hit an inside-the-park grand slam in the fifth inning to help lead Lee Academy to a 7-6 softball victory over Calais Wednesday.

Kristen Hersom had two singles for the Pandas and Ashlee Gifford hit a RBI single.

Darcey Gillespie hit two singles for Calais and Lindsey Mingo hit a two-run single.

At Houlton, Michelle Varney hit an RBI double and Michelle Dyer an RBI single to pace the Shiretowners.

Anna Lenentine doubled while sister Rebecca and Claire Thompson each singled for Houlton.

Dayna Somers collected a double, single and RBI for the Minutemen of Millinocket and Deanna Michaud singled.

At Howland, Kasse Brown scattered seven hits to help the Mattanawcook Academy Lynx of Lincoln to a season sweep of Penobscot Valley.

Kasse Brown had a double for the Lynx.

Nancy Hallett had a triple and a single while Tiffany Brown hit a solo homer in the fourth.

At Blue Hill, Collin Henry gave up just one run on three hits and three walks while fanning seven to give George Stevens Academy the win.

Adam Cousins, Harrison Hines, and Lance Gale each hit a RBI single for GSA. Will Rosenthal and Henry both doubled.

Bryant Ciomei doubled for Deer Isle-Stonington as Thomas Robbins and Robbie Haskel both singled.

At Calais, Nate Dow tripled and singled to drive in four runs and help Lee Academy to the win.

Everett Houghton doubled twice with three RBIs for the Pandas and Bob Thompson had two singles.

Russ McLean had two doubles with three RBIs for Calais.

At Howland, Cody Thompson hurled a shutout with 12 strikeouts and scored on Matt Cummings’ RBI single in the fifth inning for the game-winning run for the Howlers.

Thompson singled twice himself for the winners. Joey Cyr singled and drove in a run on a sacrifice fly, and Matt Osborne knocked an RBI single. Nick Ware added a single.

Steve Whitney had two singles and Cory Kimball a double for the Mattanawcook Academy Lynx of Lincoln.
