BAILEYVILLE – Police on Tuesday were still trying to learn the cause of a single-car accident on Route 9 that killed a Virginia man. Jack Scheible, 69, of Virginia Beach, Va., was traveling toward Calais about 5:15 p.m. Monday when his 1996 Volvo station wagon veered off the road and onto a shoulder. The car traveled down an embankment and struck a ledge outcropping. It appears the car then flipped over, landing on its roof, Baileyville Police Chief Phil Harriman said Tuesday.
