Foxcroft Academy

DOVER-FOXCROFT – Allen C. Adriance, interim headmaster of Foxcroft Academy, has announced the honor parts for the Class of 2004.

Harita Reddy, daughter of Drs. Challa and Usha Reddy, originally from India, has been named valedictorian for the Class of 2004. She will attend the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business in the fall.

She has been a member of the National Honor Society for two years and the civil rights team for two years. She was chosen as her school representative for the 2002 Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership Seminar and the National Youth Leadership Forum on Law in Washington, D.C. She has been awarded the Rensselaer Medal for excellence in math and science, the Maine Scholar Athlete Award, and the Robert C. Byrd Scholarship. She was also named a Wendy-Heisman finalist and participated in this year’s Miss Junior Maine Scholarship program, where she received the awards for fourth runner-up and first in scholastics.

Reddy played varsity field hockey for three years and varsity tennis for four. In field hockey, she was named the Bangor Daily News player of the week, made second team all-conference for two years, and received the Coach’s Award. She has been active in performing arts, participating in the band and chorus for four years and the drama program for three years.

Joseph Hinkley, son of Andrew and Patricia Hinkley of Charleston, has been named salutatorian for the Class of 2004. He will attend the College of William and Mary in the fall.

He has been a member of the National Honor Society for two years and has participated in soccer, track and field, French club, math team of which he is the captain this year, and has been a member of the swim team for the past four years, serving as captain the past two years. He also has been a member of the Oratorio Society at the University of Maine this year.

Hinkley has participated in the school musical and the select choir. He has received awards for excellence in French, English, geometry and biology, as well as the Colby College Book Prize and the Coach’s Award for the swim team, for which he broke the team record in the 50-yard freestyle, 100-yard freestyle, and the 500-yard freestyle.

He was a delegate to Dirigo Boys State and attended the Pre-Collegiate Program in Early American History at the College of William and Mary in 2003. He has participated in his church choir for the past four years and traveled to the Bronx on summer mission trips in 2001 and 2002. He also has previously worked as a lifeguard at the Piscataquis Regional YMCA.
