ORONO – Northeastern righthander Jordan Thomson was virtually untouchable during the 2004 America East baseball season.

Thursday afternoon, during the opening game of the America East Championship, the conference Pitcher of the Year was no mystery to Stony Brook hitters.

Andrew Larsen led off the game with a home run, igniting a four-run first inning that spearheaded the fourth-seeded Seawolves to a resounding 15-6 victory over the top-seeded Huskies at the University of Maine’s Mahaney Diamond.

Stony Brook (27-25) advances to today’s 3:30 p.m. winners’ bracket contest against the winner of Thursday night’s game between No. 2 UMaine (32-19) and No. 3 Albany (36-12). Northeastern (28-19) will take on the loser of that game in a noon elimination contest.

Thomson (8-4) was no mystery to Stony Brook, which scored eight runs on seven hits, including three home runs, in the first two-plus innings. The Seawolves seized the momentum early and never let up, piling up 20 hits against four NU pitchers.

Nick Theoharis belted a two-run homer in the first inning and a two-run shot in the sixth on his way to five RBIs. Larsen added two singles to his homer, while Dave Mischo posted a homer and three singles and Matt Devins doubled twice and singled.

Kevin Fitzgerald (7-2) earned the win, allowing seven hits and four runs in six innings of work. Jeff Heriot paced the Huskies with two solo home runs and a single and Miguel Paquette hit a home run and two singles.
