MBA stages fund-raiser
The Maine Bowhunters Association is holding an event to raise money to fight the upcoming bear referendum.
Called “Shoot For Your Right to Hunt,” Sunday’s 3-D shoot will be held at the Outdoor Sportsman in Northport from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Bowhunters are encouraged to download a sponsor sheet from the MBA Web site at www.mainebowhunters.org or to contact Troy Frye at 469-8905.
Money raised will be used to fight the referendum that would ban the hunting of bears with bait, hounds, or by trapping.
Youth fishing day on tap
Port Harbor Marine, in conjunction with Maine’s Youth Fish & Game Association, will sponsor a youth fun day at MYFG’s Pickerel Pond clubhouse on June 5.
The event, which begins at 10 a.m., will give kids under age 16 the chance to fish, enjoy a lunch, and win prizes.
Steve York, the general manager of Port Harbor Marine, said about 40 fishing rods will be given away, and many youth life jackets will also be handed out.
The event is also being held in conjunction with National Safe Boating Week.
“We’re buying the food. We’re buying the bait. All they have to do is show up,” York said.
Maine’s Youth Fish & Game Association is located in T32 MD. Head out of Milford on County Road, then turn right at the intersection with Stud Mill Road. The clubhouse is on the left.
