LITTLE FALLS, N.J. – The New Jersey Jackals continued their mastery of Bangor’s bats Friday, but their victory was anything but easy this time around.
Aaron Myers outdueled Bangor starter Lance Calmus on the mound as New Jersey notched a 1-0 Northeast League win Friday night.
Myers allowed one hit and one walk while striking out seven in six innings of work. The 2-0 Jackals scored the only run in the third courtesy of a Chris Rowan two-out single to center that scored Scott Goodman from second base.
Calmus allowed five hits in six innings while issuing one walk and striking out three for the 0-2 Lumberjacks.
Goodman was the only multiple hitter for the Jackals with a double and a single. Ben Grezlovski pitched a perfect ninth for his first save this season.
Jose Garcia doubled for the Lumberjacks’ lone extra-base hit.
The teams play again today and Sunday before Bangor moves on for two at Brockton, Mass., next week. Bangor opens a seven-game homestand on Thursday.
