Flip of the coin helps Green catch Spencer

OXFORD – The coin toss proved to be more pivotal than usual Saturday night at Oxford Plains Speedway as Shane Green of South Paris took advantage of an inverted field during the 60-lap Yankee Communications Iron Man Series race.

The inverted field resulted from a coin flip held at the end of each 20-lap segment. After Dennis Spencer, Jr., of Norway dominated the first two segments, Green took the pole for the third and rode it all the way to his second straight limited sportsman class win.

Spencer wound up second while defending track champion Carey Martin of Denmark was third. Kenny Harrison of Pownal and Terry Merrill of Saco were fourth and fifth, respectively.
