BROCKTON, Mass. – The Brockton Rox rode the right arm of Brian Buchanan and bat of Saul Bustos to a 7-1 Northeast League victory over the Bangor Lumberjacks Monday night.
Bustos went 4-for-5 at the plate with two doubles, two singles and two RBIs. Craig Lewis a solo home run in the second and a single. Chad Stewart had three singles and two RBIs.
Buchanan pitched seven innings of four-hit ball while allowing one run and one walk. He struck out eight.
Most of Brockton’s damage was done in the sixth, when the Rox batted around and plated four runs against reliever Doug Kohl, who allowed four runs and four hits in 1 2/3 innings. Starter Jerry Long allowed two runs and six hits in four innings.
Jake Whitesides led the 1-4 Lumberjacks with two doubles and a single.
North Division leader Brockton is now 4-1.
