‘Cats advance to QF

Grenier, Delong, Pelletier lead PI

PRESQUE ISLE – Katie Delong, Kylie Pelletier and Danielle Grenier each drove in two runs as No. 6 Presque Isle earned a 9-5 victory over No. 11 Camden Hills Tuesday in an Eastern Maine Class B softball preliminary game.

Delong, Pelletier and Grenier each notched a double and single and Shawna Nadeau chipped in with an RBI triple.

Claire Neville singled twice, tripled and drove in a run for Camden Hills and Carrie Kapuscinski added a two-run double. Allison Ettinger contributed two singles and an RBI.

At Mount Desert, Staria Matthews knocked in a run with a single to help the No. 10 Tigers upset No. 7 MDI.

Caitlin Grant doubled and singled for the winners.

Stephanie Shuster had an RBI single for the Trojans.

At Machias, Christi Holmes singled in the winning run in the bottom of the eighth after Katie Stevens’ RBI single tied the game at 8-8 as No. 7 Machias rallied by No. 10 Lee.

Holmes finished with two doubles, two singles and three RBIs for the Bulldogs and Stevens drove in four runs with a double and two singles. Jillian Whitney chipped in with two singles and a double.

Kerri Harris went 5-for-5 for Lee with three singles, a double and a triple. Liz Read added three singles.

At Mars Hill, Stevie Fletcher singled with the bases loaded in the seventh, driving in the winning run and giving the sixth ranked Panthers a victory.

Fletcher had another single, as well as a two run homer. Brittany Lundeen singled twice and tripled for an RBI. Angie Brewer added three singles and three RBIs. Jessica Grew singled twice with an RBI and Andy Long tripled and singled for three RBIs.

Tina Beal brought in two runs with a single for the number 11 Royalettes. Kristy Smith and Starr Look each tripled.

At Lincoln, Jaide Littlefield tripled and doubled home the two-game ending runs in the fifth inning as the No. 5 Lynx advanced to an Eastern C quarterfinal Thursday at No. 4 Limestone/Maine School of Science and Mathematics.

Shannon Pietras tripled and singled for Mattanawcook, while Amanda DiCenso doubled, singled and scored three runs and Kasse Brown and Chelsea Nicastro each singled twice.

Meagan Lord singled twice for No. 12 Woodland.

At Millinocket, Holly Franck doubled and hit a grand slam in the fourth for a total of five RBIs for the No. 7 Minutemen.

Deanna Michaud added a two-run homer along with three singles. Hillary Arsenault, Dayna Somers, Leslie Osborne and Katie Jones all singled twice for Stearns.

Ashley Cyr had a pair of singles for the 10th-ranked Owls.

At Milo, Erika Morrill knocked in the winning run with a single in the eighth and hit an RBI triple during a six-run sixth to lead the Patriots to the win.

Mindy Dolley doubled, singled and drove in a pair for No. 8 Penquis and Ashlei McMahon had two singles, a double and an RBI.

Jody Pinkham tripled, singled and plated a run for the No. 9 Tigers of East Sullivan. Kiley Bragdon added two singles and an RBI.

At Lewiston, Ali Morin smacked a grand slam to spark a six-run third inning for the host Devils.

Nicole Caron had two singles, a triple and two RBIs for No. 6 Lewiston. Katie Morin and Amanda Michaud each doubled and singled.

Emily Thompson doubled and scored on an error for the No. 11 Broncos.

At Skowhegan, Brittney Vigue smacked a three-run double in the second to spark No. 8 Skowhegan past the No. 9 Old Town.

Loreal Sherburne added a two-run triple in the third. Mariah Daigle struck out seven in a two-hitter.

Liz Bergeron and Jamie Gomm each singled for Old Town.

At Calais, Darcey Gillespie hit a two-run single in the first inning to give Steph Perry and Nicki Ellington all the runs they needed as the Blue Devils won the Downeast Athletic Conference championship.

Perry and Ellington scattered just one hit while striking out nine and walking three.

Tiffany Martinez singled for the Tigers of Eastport.
