WBRC Architects-Engineers

BANGOR – WBRC Architects-Engineers announced that Mark E. Stillman joined the firm as its newest architectural intern and assumed his position on May 10.

Stillman was previously a member of the U.S. Army, serving 21/2 years in Panama and the remainder of his six years at the Pentagon in Washington. While in the Washington area, he attended the District of Columbia University and completed both his associate and bachelor’s degrees in architecture.

Stillman, his wife, Cheryl, and their four children currently reside in Windsor. He is a native of Newburgh.

“After being away from Maine for about nine years, my wife and I decided that we wanted our kids to grow up here,” he said.

Stillman is currently performing design work in the Business and Institution Studio of WBRC Architects-Engineers.

“Mark has a well-rounded background of experience and education,” said studio head and WBRC partner Michael L. Czarniecki. “He brings a real hands-on attitude and genuine personality. We’re excited to welcome him to the team.”

Bangor Savings Bank

BANGOR – Bangor Savings Bank announced that James “Jamey” B. Doughty, vice president, 99 Franklin St. office, has joined the bank as the new card and merchant services manager.

Doughty spent three years at MasterCard International in Purchase, N.Y., as director of global product development after working as director of marketing and communications in its North America Deposit Access Group. Prior to joining MasterCard, he was assistant vice president for Wells Fargo’s Wholesale Marketing Group based in San Francisco.

Doughty’s experience in the financial industry also includes sales and sales management positions with State Farm Insurance and John Hancock Financial Services.

Design accreditation

Josef Van Deventer, architectural intern at WBRC Architects-Engineers, has become LEED-accredited.

A 2002 graduate of the State University of New York in Buffalo, Van Deventer is now accredited in Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, Green Building Rating System – a voluntary, consensus-based national standard for developing high-performance, sustainable buildings.

LEED provides a complete framework for assessing building performance and meeting sustainability goals.

Flower essence seminar

BANGOR – Green Acres Kennel Shop will be the site of a Bach Flower Essence seminar on Saturday, June 12, and again on Saturday, June 26.

The seminar is intended to help pet owners learn more about the behavioral and emotional needs of their cats and dogs.

Each seminar will be taught by Don Hanson, a certified pet dog trainer and Bach Foundation registered practitioner.
