Orono library offers annual park concert

The Orono Public Library will present the annual concert in Webster Park at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 17. The concert is free and sponsored by the Friends of the Orono Public Library and the Orono-Old Town Kiwanis.

Julie and the Bug Boys will perform “Music with Message.” The group’s songs promote self-respect, manners, kindness, tolerance, safety and silly fun.

Julie Jameson Monroe, an Orono resident, has a degree in child development and social service. She believes singing is a powerful vehicle for positive messages.

The Bug Boys, entomologists Don Berry, drummer, and Clay Kirby, bass guitarist, are joined by new member Jim Artesani. All three are husbands, fathers and wild about jazz.

The Friends of the Library will also be on hand at the concert selling hot dogs, baked goods and balloons.

The proceeds from the sale will benefit library programs. In case of rain, the concert will be held on Friday, June 18.
