AUBURN – Lisa Giguere, a longtime reporter and editor for the Sun Journal of Lewiston, died Tuesday after a yearlong battle with lung cancer. She was 52.

Giguere, a University of Maine graduate, began her career in 1974 as a reporter with the Lewiston Evening Journal, where she later served as city editor, then managing editor.

She helped develop the newspaper’s Sunday edition in 1983, was named business editor in 1994 and became a design and copy editor for the daily Sun Journal in 2000.

Giguere was active in the Androscoggin Land Trust and was involved in the arts scene, local history, conservation and the outdoors.

Survivors include her husband, Ralph Tuttle; her parents, Romeo and Carmen Beliveau Giguere of Lewiston; a brother, Paul Giguere of San Diego; and a stepson, Jonathan Tuttle of Minot.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday at Sacred Heart Church in Auburn.
