BANGOR – Stephanie Whittier allowed only three hits while striking out seven and walking one to lead the No. 5 Belfast Lions by the No. 4 John Bapst Crusaders 9-0 in an Eastern Maine Class B softball quarterfinal Thursday at Husson College.
Lauren Overlock and Kate Ross each drove in two runs for the winners as Overlock doubled and singled and Ross singled twice. Ashley Higgins added an RBI double.
Meaghan Brown notched three singles for the Crusaders.

Mallorie Blakney singled twice for the No. 13 Bulldogs of Fairfield.

Tara Hall had two dobules for Bucksport and Jessie MacDonald and Brittni Adams both had two singles. Nicole Smith struck out seven and walked none.

At Houlton, Natasha Ritchie pitched a three-hitter with 12 strikeouts and added a two-run triple as the No. 2 Shiretowners topped No. 7 Stearns of Millinocket.
Claire Thompson singled home two runs and Anna Lenentine singled home a run as Houlton took a 3-0 first-inning lead.
Anna Lenentine, Rebecca Lenentine and Michelle Ives each had two singles for Houlton.
Casey Freeman had two singles and Deanna Michaud tripled for Stearns.

Heather Anthony’s one-out single in the top of the second was the only hit for No. 8 Penquis of Milo. Dani Graves pitched a five-hitter for the Patriots with eight strikeouts and two walks.

Cummings also had a double in the first inning. Shead’s Britney Lingley scattered three hits, struck out 11 and walked three.
Lisa Levasseur led Van Buren with an RBI single in the seventh. The Crusaders scored two runs in the fourth on passed balls.

Amber Leathers tripled, singled twice and had two RBIs for BC and Cala Dearborn notched an RBI single.

Strout also had three singles to drive in three runs for Fort Fairfield and Jen Wartmon had three singled with a RBI.
Jillian Whitney, Stephanie Whitman, Eileen Alley, and Meredith Davis each singled for Machias.
