STEUBEN – Selectmen are scheduling interviews for the town’s first-ever manager position with three finalists for next Wednesday.

There were five applicants after the town advertised for the new position, which was approved at the annual town meeting in March and supposed to begin July 1. It’s unlikely, however, that the selectmen’s choice will be available to start in Steuben so soon.

“That would be difficult, because some of the finalists are currently employed as managers in other towns,” said Julie Ginn, Steuben’s current executive administrator. “We wouldn’t expect them to give any less than one month’s notice.”

Ginn said the finalists are generally working in Greater Bangor, and two of them have ties Down East.
