BANGOR – A Palmyra man charged with robbing a Milford gas station pleaded guilty Tuesday to federal charges of robbery and possession of stolen firearms.

Neal Ray Colby, 21, faces up to 10 years in prison on the weapons charge, up to 20 years in prison on the robbery charge and a fine of up to $250,000 on each count.

Colby entered his plea in U.S. District Court in Bangor.

Colby and Joseph Scott Reeves, 24, of Corinth allegedly robbed at gunpoint the Exxon station on Route 2 in Milford on Sept. 27, 2002. The firearms charges are connected with a burglary in Palmyra before the robbery.

The men were charged with robbery in federal court because the gas station is considered to be a business in an industry that affects interstate commerce.

A sentencing date for Colby is not expected to be set until after Reeves’ jury trial in U.S. District Court in Bangor has been completed. It is scheduled to begin on July 12.
