Expanding program offerings and educational outreach is one mission of the Bangor Symphony Orchestra, and your contributions to the historic organization are what make it possible.
Development director Kate Beale reports that, with less than a month remaining in the BSO fiscal year, the organization is within 10 percent of its annual fund goal.
She points out that with your support members of the BSO Know Your Orchestra! Ensembles have been able to visit schools from Jackman to Eastport, Kingfield, Stratton and Phillips.
Maestro Xiao-Lu Li has spent time with students in Winter Harbor, Mount Desert and Blue Hill and, through the Maine Center on Aging, BSO musicians have entertained in area retirement facilities.
Just a few more dollars will help the oldest regularly operating community orchestra in the United States maintain these activities.
Contributions made out to BSO with Annual Fund written on your check’s memo line, can be mailed to P.O. Box 1441, Bangor 04402-1441.
The BSO also is holding auditions for the 2004-2005 season at 10 a.m. Sunday, June 27, at Bangor High School.
Positions include assistant concertmaster, principal violin 2, viola, clarinet 2 and section strings as well as substitutes for all instruments.
For information about the Annual Fund, call Beale at (800) 639-3221. To get information about pay, mileage, housing and the orchestra’s season, call orchestra manager Scott Burditt at that toll-free number or 862-2711.
