HERMON – Principal Brian Walsh has announced the honors parts for the 2004 graduating class at Hermon High School. Graduation ceremonies will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, June 11, at the Bangor Civic Center.
Jessie Keith, son of John and Sandra Keith of Levant, has been named valedictorian for the Class of 2004.
He maintained high honors all four years of high school, was a member of class council as president in grade 10 and vice president in grades 11 and 12. He was a member of the Key Club, student council and the National Honor Society for three years.
Keith played varsity soccer and was captain of the basketball team and of the tennis team. He was selected to the Big East Scholar Athlete Team, Basketball’s Big East First Team, McDonald’s All-State Academic Team, and he was basketball’s Big East player of the year and varsity tennis most valuable player.
He received the Elks Club top student award, University of Maine scholars achievement award, University of Maine top scholar award, the Bausch & Lomb Science Award and the Webber athlete of the year award.
Brett Danforth, son of Richard and Marly Danforth of Hermon, has been named salutatorian for the Class of 2004.
He earned honor roll status throughout his four years of high school. He was a member of the National Honor Society for three years and was the eastern Maine representative his senior year.
For three years he was a member of student council and Key Club. He was president of the class council his junior and senior years. He played varsity sports, and he served as captain for the golf, track, basketball and baseball teams.
Danforth was selected as the Dirigo Boys State senator for Boys Nation Conference, he was the HOBY Leadership representative, and he was the Maine representative for the International Convention in Washington, D.C.
He was the master of ceremonies for the Maine Youth Leadership Conference at the University of Southern
Maine, and he organized a community leadership education workshop for 10 area schools.
He received the Maine Principals’ Association Award, University of Maine Academic Achievement Award, University of Maine top scholar award, Williams College book award, and the Elks Club top scholar award.
