Chad Hayes of Old Town will play tight end for defending NFL Europe champion Frankfurt against Berlin in World Bowl XII today in Gelsenkirchin, Germany.
Hayes, who starred at the University of Maine from 1998-2001, caught 11 passes for 144 yards and three touchdowns for the Galaxy this year, his first with the team. Last year, he played for the Berlin Thunder.
The Thunder (9-1) defeated the Galaxy (7-3) twice this year, including 41-0 in last week’s regular-season finale.
Hayes will wear No. 80, the same number the 2001 NCAA Div. I-AA second-team All-American wore at Maine.
The game will be televised live at noon on Fox.
