Known as the boy with “100” faces, 10-year-old Travis is famous for his comical facial expressions. He is an engaging, funny and creative child whose creativity is easily recognized by his ability to build unique playthings out of many different objects.

Travis loves the outdoors and enjoys riding his bike. He is a good-humored child who thrives on receiving physical affection, reassurance and praise from his caretakers.

Travis does well in school and is particularly skilled in science and math. He receives special education services for his behavioral and learning challenges. Travis has a difficult time making transitions from one activity to another and sometimes responds with opposition or defiant behavior. He struggles with self-esteem issues in school, feeling as though he is not able to keep up with his peers, and these feelings easily lead him to become frustrated. Travis is mainstreamed for special curriculum offerings and science and social studies classes. He is well liked by his teachers and the staff at school.

Travis has contact with a maternal grandmother, a maternal great-grandmother and a maternal aunt. These relationships are meaningful to Travis, and it will be important for him to continue this contact after adoption. Travis has one younger half sister, and future contact with her will need to be assessed.

Travis would be most successful in a two-parent family that will provide him with a home environment that is predictable, structured and nurturing. Both parents will need to be actively involved in continuing to help Travis with attachment issues and sometimes-impulsive behavior. Travis would do best in a home where he is either the only child or the youngest child.
