FARMINGTON – The University of Maine at Farmington is offering a free exam, the Miller Analogies Test, or MAT, to qualifying individuals who are interested in applying to a graduate institution within the next five years.

The MAT will be offered in June and July. It consists of 100 questions designed to test one’s ability to recognize relationships between ideas, fluency in English, and a general knowledge of literature, philosophy, history, science, mathematics and the fine arts. Some of the questions are quantitative, but most are verbal.

To qualify for the exam, an applicant must be a first-time MAT taker and complete two MAT test forms on the same day. The test must be completed in the allotted time without exception.

For information about the test, go to www.MillerAnalogies.com. To register, call Cindy Kemble at the UMF Center for Human Development at 778-7039 or e-mail kemble@maine.edu.
