DOVER-FOXCROFT – A Belfast man was found guilty of attempted gross sexual assault and unlawful sexual assault during a bench trial in Piscataquis County Superior Court.
Ronald Warren, 47, was found guilty of the two counts Friday by Chief Justice Nancy Mills. His sentencing will occur later.
Warren sought the help of a local woman in May 2003 for assistance at a home he sold. When the woman complied by going to the house, Warren allegedly forced himself on her in an upstairs room, police said.
The woman refused his advances and tried to get away, but was held back by Warren, according to an affidavit filed at the court. She finally pushed Warren away and felt her way down the stairs in the darkness to the outside.
Police said she sought help at a nearby house.
