A Hampden man allegedly chased a man out of his own trailer and threatened to kill him Saturday morning.
Hampden police Sgt. Scott Webber said that just before noon a fight was reported in progress at the Crestwood trailer park.
Webber and Officer James Ryan arrived at the park as the fight broke up, but an investigation indicated that Evan Gray, 18, of Hampden had been at another man’s trailer when the man reportedly caught Gray injecting drugs and tried to kick him out. Gray then threatened the man with a large knife, driving him out of the trailer.
Webber said the man had to break into a neighboring trailer to escape Gray, who chased him and allegedly said, “I’m gonna [expletive] kill him.” Gray continued to threaten the man with the knife, Webber said, then threw it at him, hitting him in the leg but causing no injury.
Gray then left, Webber said, but was just across the trailer park when the police arrived. He was arrested and charged with criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon and violation of bail.
A Hampden woman was arrested Saturday night after somebody told police she was driving with a suspended license and two loaded handguns.
Hampden police Sgt. Scott Webber said that at about 7:30 p.m. police received a phone call to the effect that Julie Richardson, 26, of Hampden was driving after suspension, and that she had two firearms in the car. A second call was received at about 8:40 p.m., Webber said, just as Officer J.D. Burke located Richardson driving on Lower Coldbrook Road.
Burke confirmed that Richardson’s license was indeed suspended, and that the two handguns in the car were fully loaded. Richardson was charged with operating after suspension and possession of a loaded firearm in a motor vehicle. She told Burke she carried the guns for her personal protection.
Webber explained that Richardson was charged because she had no concealed weapons permit, which would have allowed her to carry the loaded handguns. “It’s relatively cheap for a permit,” Webber noted, adding that applicants for the permit also must pass a background check.
Hampden police pulled over a speeding car Sunday night and arrested three of its four occupants.
Officer J.D. Burke reported that just before midnight he stopped a car driven by Chad Laws, 27, of Orrington on Main Road North. Laws was arrested for operating a motor vehicle after revocation of his license. Passenger David Libby, 28, of Bangor was arrested on a warrant from Piscataquis County for failing to pay a $310 fine in connection with an assault charge.
The car’s owner, Traci Porter, 25, of Woodland, was arrested on a warrant from Millinocket District Court for negotiating a worthless instrument.
The fourth passenger did not have a driver’s license, so Burke had the car towed and gave her a ride to a nearby store.
