Bangor police chased a juvenile through a back yard and over a fence early Tuesday morning after the young man wriggled free from an arresting officer.
The teenager matched the description of one of two young men who allegedly burglarized an unlocked Honda Civic parked on West Broadway at 11:30 p.m. Monday, according to police reports. The two were seen running away after the car’s owner heard the vehicle’s alarm and confronted the teens.
Police caught up with the two teenagers on Hammond Street. One young man was allegedly found with four compact discs the Civic’s owner had reported missing, saying he picked them up from the middle of the road.
When told he was under arrest, the young man broke free from an officer’s grip and ran, losing one shoe and ignoring commands to stop. Police chased him down Hammond Street, through a back yard on Ohio Street and over a wooden fence, according to reports.
Officers caught up with the teenager on the opposite side of the fence and took him into custody. He was also found with a portable compact disc player, lighter and flashlight that may have been stolen from another vehicle, according to reports.
The teenager was charged with burglary to a motor vehicle, refusing to submit to arrest and receiving stolen property.
The other teen, also a juvenile, was charged with burglary to a motor vehicle.

Bangor police stopped Jonathan Wiggins, 19, on Broadway at 10 p.m. after his 1992 Honda Civic passed the cruiser with only one working headlight. A check of his license revealed Wiggins was prohibited from driving for demerit points, which he told police he was unaware of, according to reports.
Wiggins was summoned for operating after suspension.
