Music educator inducted into UMaine hall of fame

ORONO – Retired music educator Dale Huff of Abbot was inducted into the Maine Music Educators Hall of Fame on May 21 at the Maine Music Educators Conference Banquet at the University of Maine. He was presented the award for his outstanding service to music students and music education.

Jeffrey Priest, band director at Old Town High School, nominated Huff. Huff’s name will be added to those of other distinguished music educators on a plaque at the University of Maine Class of 1944 Hall music building.

Huff taught in public schools for 36 years, 25 in the Millinocket School Department and 11 years in the Fort Fairfield School Department. He also held administrative positions in the Maine Music Educators Association.

He is a graduate of Piscataquis Community High School in Guilford, took classes at Northern Conservatory of Music in Bangor, and received a master’s degree from Vandercook School of Music in Chicago.
