DEDHAM – Voters are expected Saturday to consider creating a new reserve account for capital improvements and whether to make improvements to the parking lot at the town office and school, according to a town official.
Dedham’s annual town meeting is 10 a.m. Saturday, June 19, at Dedham School on Route 1A. Polls for local elections will be open today from 3 to 8 p.m. at Dedham Fire Station at the corner of Bald Mountain and Upper Dedham roads.
According to Dedham Finance Director Barbara Cox, the town’s municipal budget is projected to increase $25,000 for the 2004-2005 fiscal year to $762,722.
Cox said the new reserve account most likely would be used to finance projects for town roads. Voters will be asked Saturday to create the new account and to appropriate $35,500 to put in the account, she said.
Improvements to the parking lot on Route 1A would include repaving the lot and reconstructing the entrance into the lot off the highway, according to Cox. She said voters would be asked to fund $50,000 for the project.
In elections, Thomas Campbell and Everett Lawrence are running against each other for selectman. Anthony Smith, who sits on the board, has decided not to seek re-election, Cox said.
Melanie Klein-Robbenhaar and Robyn Frick are running for two three-year seats on the local school board. Klein-Robbenhaar, an incumbent, and Frick, who is hoping to fill a vacancy created by Rick Madden’s resignation, are unopposed in their bids, the official said.
Incumbent Brenda Power and Eric Taylor are competing for one two-year position on the school board.
