FORT FAIRFIELD – A potato-cooking contest will be held Saturday, July 17, in the Forth Fairfield Elementary School cafeteria.

Categories are: breads, casseroles, desserts, salads and soups. All recipes must have the potato as an ingredient. Contestants must bring a copy of the complete recipe along with the dish. Participants can cook one dish for up to two categories.

Winners in each category will be based on the dish’s appearance, texture, ease of preparation and flavor. There will be a first and second prize in each category, and a grand prize of $200.

Entrants should bring their dishes between 10 and 10:30 a.m. Judging will begin at 11 a.m.
