AUGUSTA – The outcome of the Democratic primary in Senate District 23, Waldo County, remained unchanged after a recount Friday.
Peter Misluk Jr. of Searsmont topped Wesley Rothermel of Belfast, in the June 8 vote.
That vote was 987-953. Rothermel requested a recount, which was completed by the Secretary of State’s Office at the Maine State Crime Lab on Friday. Deputy Secretary of State Julie Flynn said the final tally was 988 for Misluk and 952 for Rothermel.
There were some minor errors which canceled each other out, she said, but in the end, Misluk picked up one vote.
“Most of the towns were dead on,” Flynn said.
Misluk carried 18 of the district’s 26 towns.
The state paid for the recount, since the results were within a 2 percent difference.
Misluk will face incumbent state Senator Carol Weston, R-Montville, in the Nov. 2 general election.
