These days, you can’t turn on the television or pick up a newspaper without seeing something about the high cost of prescription drugs. How much could the pharmaceutical companies reduce prices if they eliminated television commercials for their products? I heard a report some time…

These days, you can’t turn on the television or pick up a newspaper without seeing something about the high cost of prescription drugs. How much could the pharmaceutical companies reduce prices if they eliminated television commercials for their products?

I heard a report some time ago that drug companies spend more on advertising than they do on research. Granted, a large portion of this goes to letting doctors know about new medications on the market, and that’s important.

However, I can’t believe it’s really necessary to run an ad for a single medication five or six times during a single television program. At least it seems like that’s how often it is advertised.
