Family of murdered man offers reward

WILTON – The family of a Wilton man who was shot in his home two days before Christmas is hoping a $10,000 reward will encourage people who know something about his death to come forward.

The six-month anniversary of Raymond “Butch” Weed’s killing is coming up, and his family hopes the timing and the reward will jog someone’s memory.

“The family would like to somehow reignite the case by getting the community involved,” brother Bill Weed wrote in an e-mail announcing the reward.

He said the family is concerned and frustrated that the crime has not been solved.

Maine State Police Sgt. Walter Grzyb said there have been no new leads in the case, although police have interviewed dozens of people, some of them twice. There have been no arrests.

Weed, 40, was well-known in town as the owner of New Horizon Builders, a Sunday School teacher at the Farmington Baptist Church, a member of the Lions Club and a Little League football coach.
