BANGOR – Righthanders Anthony DeRosa and Josh Young each pitched a two-hitter as Bangor swept a season-opening American Legion Zone 1 doubleheader from Calais 2-1 and 5-1 at Garland Street Field on Monday evening.

DeRosa struck out five and walked four in the opener, holding Calais hitless until Aaron Sullivan hit a leadoff single in the top of the sixth. Sullivan scored his team’s only run on an RBI single by James Ramsdell.

Nate Hall singled and scored on Brian Hackett’s sacrifice fly to stake Bangor to a 1-0 first-inning lead. Nick Larochelle walked, was sacrificed to second by Scott Hackett, and scored on Young’s single in the fifth.

Scott Macdonald pitched a two-hitter for Calais in the opener.

Young struck out seven in the second game.

Bangor took a 2-0 lead in the third when Brian Hackett doubled home Jordan Heath and scored on a wild pitch.

Bangor added three runs in the fourth as Heath hit a two-run single and scored on a third-strike wild pitch on what would have been the final out of the inning.

Josh Francis tripled in the fifth for Calais and scored on a passed ball.

At Old Town, Lincoln erupted for seven runs in the top of the first inning and cruised to the Zone 1 victory.

Steve Whitney, Jason Murchison, and Matt Wark each had a double and two singles for Lincoln, while Nate Cousineau doubled and Matt Lasko and Jeremy Ham each singled twice.

Dusty Thomas hit a grand slam for Orono in the bottom of the seventh, while Brian Roach doubled and singled, Jacob Lukas singled twice, and Cory Estes doubled.

At Orono, Ryan Brown pitched a no-hitter with 14 strikeouts and one walk to lead the Bear Brew Pub to the win.

Billy Baker and Ryan Logan each doubled and singled to drive in two runs for Bear Brew Pub. Matt Anderson and Gavin Speaker each had two singles with an RBI.

At Searsport, Gerald Hews hit three singles and a double and scored three runs to lead Montville.

Greg Thayer hit a three-run home run in the seventh inning and a double for Montville. Chris Carman had a double and two singles with two RBIs, and Nate Hall singled twice to knock in two runs.

Bob Withee doubled and singled for Belfast, and Jeff Ashey hit two singles and scored a run.
