ROCKLAND – After completing the 180-mile Trek Across Maine on Sunday, a bicyclist was hit by a pickup truck near a Rockland school.

Amy McLaughlin, 26, of Otis had finished the trek and was riding her bicycle near Rockland District Middle and South schools on Broadway when she was hit by a truck at 12:04 p.m., Deputy Police Chief Wallace Tower said Monday. He said Christopher Charland, 27, of Hollis was turning into the South School’s parking lot in a 2002 Chevrolet pickup truck when he turned into the path of the bicyclist.

McLaughlin, who suffered cuts and bruises, was treated by Rockland Emergency Medical Services personnel, Tower said. She was not taken to a hospital. There were no charges stemming from the accident.
