The Dirigo United Soccer club, with members age 15-18 from Hampden, Newburgh and Winterport, will travel to England, Scotland and Wales July 19 through Aug. 1.
In Europe, they will participate in an international soccer training program and tour extensively, which will be a very educational experience for them.
Their final fund-raiser for this tour is an indoor yard sale, silent auction and bake sale from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 26, in the Hampden town office community room.
And while you’re inside, have your car washed outside!
Debi Murray of Hampden reports that a few of the club’s new cookbooks, “Soccer Mom’s Kickin’ Recipes,” will be available at the sale.
The club also is accepting corporate donations, which can be sent to Dirigo United Soccer Club, c/o Ann Dow, 8 Independence Ave., Hampden 04444.
The public is invited to participate in Corinth Old Home Days, which begins with an ice cream social 6-8 p.m. today at the recreation field or if it rains, at Corinth Middle School.
That event is followed by a free “Elvis” performance at 8 p.m. at the same site.
The Old Home Days parade begins at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 26, on Main Street, and the fun-filled celebration closes with a lawn-garden tractor pull at 4 p.m. behind CMS.
Corinth Family Medicine also will host its second annual Health Fair from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 26, in a booth behind the town office.
OHI of Hermon, which supports adults and children with disabilities in the Bangor area, is hosting a giant yard sale to benefit people with disabilities 8 a.m.- 2 p.m. Saturday, June 26, rain or shine, in front of its office at Twin City Plaza in Brewer.
Duane Hall of OHI reports sale items include furniture, housewares, appliances, tools, office equipment, clothing, baked goods and much more.
All proceeds benefit those who use the services of OHI.
I hope all band lovers will join in celebrating Brewer Hometown Band’s 25th anniversary when it hosts R.B. Hall Day, beginning with opening ceremonies at 8:30 a.m. Saturday June 26, on Doyle Field in Brewer.
The first 40-minute concert of this community band festival is 9 a.m. The Massed Band plays at 1 p.m.
Brewer Hometown Band’s conductor, Jan Cox, will lead its quarter-century celebratory concert at 7 p.m.
In commemoration of the band’s silver anniversary, composer Eddie Madden will conduct the first presentation of a march he wrote exclusively for the Brewer Hometown Band.
Admission to R.B. Hall Day is free. Vendors will be selling food, drinks and other items, and you can bring a chair or sit under the tent. Stay an hour or the whole day.
Sue Leiter will discuss wild gardens of Acadia at the next meeting of the Ellsworth Garden Club 7 p.m. Monday, June 28, at Hancock County Cooperative Extension, Boggy Brook Road, Ellsworth.

Those are some of the types of participation members of the Eastport Fourth of July Committee would like to see entered in its Grand Independence Day Parade at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 4.
Shirley Bassett is parade chairwoman, and she wrote “all welcome” on the announcement of that event, which annually hosts nearly 10,000 people participating in a variety of activities throughout the day and during the week leading up to the Fourth of July.
Eastport’s Independence Day and Old Home Week Celebration runs from Tuesday, July 1, through Sunday, July 4, and all activities are made possible by contributions from people like you who are reading this, whether you live in Eastport or elsewhere.

Brewer High School Senior Alumni is hosting its annual banquet beginning with a social hour at 5 p.m. and dinner at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 20, at Jeff’s Catering in Brewer.
