BAR HARBOR – Rescue crews are searching an area around Acadia National Park for a Bar Harbor man who has been missing since Tuesday morning.

Paul Christopher Kaiser, 57, was last seen walking along Route 3 in Bar Harbor heading toward the park, according to information released Friday by the Bar Harbor Police Department.

Crews from the Maine Warden Service searched an area around Kaiser’s home Friday and believe he could be somewhere in the park, according to Bar Harbor police Officer David Kerns.

Kaiser had spoken to friends about hiking and possibly staying on the south ridge trail of Cadillac Mountain in the park, and searchers from the park searched in that area Friday, according to Kerns.

Kaiser reportedly had nothing to eat or drink for several days before his disappearance, and is not equipped to camp in the wilderness for any length of time.

Kaiser is approximately 6 feet 4 inches tall and weighs between 120 and 150 pounds. He has brown hair, blue eyes and a mustache and wears glasses.

Anyone who has seen Kaiser or has information regarding his whereabouts can contact the Bar Harbor Police Department at 288-3391.
