Andy Santerre captures third win of season

HOLLAND, N.Y. – Two-time defending NASCAR Busch North Series Champion and Cherryfield native Andy Santerre scored his third victory of the season Saturday night in the Sunoco 150 at Holland International Speedway.

Outside pole-sitter Mike Olsen of North Haverhill, N.H., finished second.

The Scarborough father-son duo of Kelly and Ryan Moore finished third and fourth respectively and Concord, N.C.’s Tim Andrews rounded out the top five.

Another Maine racer, Bill Penfold of Yarmouth, finished 11th.

With his win, Santerre extends his point lead to 39 points over Olsen after six races.

Bullwinkle Raceway

At Greenville, Saturday’s rainy conditions didn’t extend all the way into Greenville as sun and mild temperatures allowed Bullwinkle Raceway to hold its regular racing program without a hitch.

Jim Turner finished first in the second heat of the Little Enduro race and then drove to a win in the feature event. Turner outlasted Mike Reddy, who finished as the runnerup.

The rest of the final order at the top of the race results are Russell Scott in third, David Kerr in fourth, and Ryan Bolen in fifth.

Wiscasset Raceway

At Wiscasset, Charlie Colby of Newcastle held off Pat Thibodeau of Winterport to take the win and extend his points lead.

Bar Harbor’s John Phippen was third, pole-sitter Shane Lane of Strong finished fourth and Manchester’s Gene Green rounded out the top five.

Oxford Plains Speedway

At Oxford, Alan Wilson came into the 50-lap Oxford Networks Pro Stock feature event Friday as the division points leader and cemented his position at the top of the standings further by taking the lead late, during the 44th lap, and winning the race.

The Hebron resident finished ahead of Mike Maietta, Sr., of South Portland. West Paris’ Mickey Green was third, Scott Robbins of Dixfield fourth, and Jeremie Whorff of Topsham fifth.

Speedway 95

At Hermon, Saturday night racing at Speedway 95 was postponed due to rain for the second straight week.

The Coca-Cola 50-lap Limited Sportsman series, Pro Stock, Four Cylinder Truck races and Dysart’s Sport Four Series will be made up on Saturday, July 3.
