Bangor, Old Town, Hermon, Waldoboro stars notch wins

GLENBURN – Olivia Whitten singled twice as Bangor prevailed 19-18 over Glenburn in the District 3 Little League Softball Tournament for ages 9-10.

Kami Pendergast and Kristen Henigan each added a triple. Taylor Hutchinson and Samantha Schultz had a double apiece.

Megan Whitney and Jessica Bradford both singled four times for Glenburn.

Old Town 24, Orono 13

At Glenburn, Emily Tremble doubled once and singled twice in the Old Town victory.

Sisters Veronica and Ruby Wallace-Ewing had three singles apiece for Orono, while Chloe Douglas had two singles.

Hermon 31, Orrington 23

At Glenburn, Ashley Thayer singled twice as Hermon won out over Orrington.

Nicole Murphy tripled twice and singled three times for Orrington. Kaylin Freeman added four singles.

Baseball, 11-12

Waldoboro 2, Waldo County 1

At Waldoboro, Tyler Williamson slammed a home run in the bottom of the fifth to power Waldoboro to the District 2 victory.

Alex Goulrup contributed to the victory by striking out 14 and Steven Genthner doubled for Waldoboro.

Brad Hersey doubled for Waldo County.
