Oliver sparks Knox County victory

ROCKLAND – Wade Oliver drilled a double and a triple and collected four RBIs to lead Knox County past Sebasticook of Newport 10-9 in American Legion Zone 2 baseball action Monday.

Tom Dennen added a double and a single, and John Coppola started the Knox County scoring with a two-run single in the first.

Ryan Kennedy and Phil Hendricks each posted two singles and two RBIs for Sebasticook.

At Ellsworth, Arshwin Asjes notched three singles and drove in a run to help Trenton record the Zone 1 victory.

Sam Merrill and Mark Clapp each chipped in with a double and single for the winners with Merrill driving in a run.

Nick Arthers had three singles for Waldo and Mike Cummings had two.

Brewer sweeps Calais

At Calais, Kevin McAvoy slammed a three-run home run in the first game and added a two-run shot in the second to help Brewer sweep Calais 13-3 and 21-7.

Joe Robichaud chipped in with a three-run homer and single for Brewer in the first game. Andy Otis added a two-run homer and single while Andrew Patterson singled twice. McAvoy also singled.

Ben Maloney and Steve Colbeth each singled twice for Calais.

Nye Gifford paced Brewer in the second game with a three-run home run and single while Zac Bouzan-Kaloustian added a two-run shot and also singled. Jeff Miller added a single and double.

Colbeth hit a solo homer, doubled and singled for Calais. James Ramsdell contributed a double and single.

Quirk Auto 2, Bear Brew Pub 1

At Old Town, Craig Harvey’s RBI double in the sixth inning scored Aaron Largay with the winning run for Quirk Auto Park.

Deric Prescott had Quirk Auto’s only other hit, a single. Harvey earned the win by tossing a three-hitter, striking out eight, and walking one.

For Bear Brew Pub, Zach Gasaway had an RBI double, and Ryan Login and Ryan Curran each singled. Ryan Brown suffered the loss despite allowing only two hits, striking out nine, walking one, and hitting one.
