I attended the recent CSD 9 budget meeting and voted against the proposed budget. I did not do so to “send a message to the state,” but to send a message to the administration to consider the financial realities of this community. We are dealing with high unemployment, low-paying jobs, a high percentage of population on fixed incomes and swelling unpaid taxes in member towns.

Yes, we have an obligation to run the school and educate our children, but in doing so, we demand the most efficient use of our taxpayer dollars.

That is what it’s all about.
