ANAHEIM, Calif. – Anaheim defenseman Keith Carney had the two-year option in his contract picked up Wednesday by the Mighty Ducks.
The 34-year-old Carney, who starred at the University of Maine from 1988 to 1991, had two goals, five assists and 42 penalty minutes in 69 games last season. He missed the first 11 after breaking his foot in a preseason game.
Carney, who will earn $2.7 million next season, was acquired by the Ducks from Phoenix before the 2001-02 season. He helped Anaheim reach the Stanley Cup finals last year.
He was originally selected by Buffalo in the fourth round of the 1988 draft.
