Independence Day focus of organ concert

BANGOR – The 12th annual series of Summer Organ Concerts, featuring the historic E. & G.G. Hook Organ at St. John’s Catholic Church, opens with American Music to Celebrate Independence Day at 7 p.m. Sunday, July 4, at 207 York St., Bangor.

Special guest for the season will be Elizabeth Downing, flautist.

Additional concerts will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursdays, July 22 through Aug. 26, at St. John’s Catholic Church. Admission is free and donations are appreciated.

Concerts feature selections for choir, organ and an old-fashioned sing-along.

. Organ Duets, Timothy and Cheryl Drewes, organists, 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 19.

. Opus 288 and Friends, ensemble concert featuring Jara Goodrich, harp; Anatole Wieck, violin; and Kevin Birch, organ, 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 26.
