The Bangor police officers deserve a safer, bigger and better police station. They have put up with crowded spaces and an aging building on Court Street for years. They have also enjoyed the convenience of being very close to the courthouse, downtown, Main Street, the waterfront, the bridges, the civic center and the hospitals.
They should be allowed to maintain those same conveniences and safety factors by moving to a new location within a reasonable proximity to the old police station. A move like that would take our police station to city-owned property at 240 Main St.
To help keep your police station more visible and accessible than ever before, there is going to be a petition drive at 240 Main St. at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 10.
Join us or watch for your local petitioner on that day if you haven’t seen one before then.
