Incentives aid youth reading program

BREWER – It’s time to “have a ball” at the Brewer library.

Brewer Public Library’s Summer Reading Program is off to a great start.

Besides reading a “Whale of a Tale” participants will receive a brand new soccer ball from the Brewer Tire Warehouse.

A new sponsor this year, Jodie Renshaw and her husband Halis Sirimoglu, are big supporters of reading and libraries.

The library also has many other community sponsors, including Bangor Savings Bank, the Weathervane Restaurant, Brewer Burger King, Wendy’s of Brewer, the Ground Round, Brewer Super Wal-Mart and Brewer Ruby Tuesday’s.

Each week when the children record the books they have read, they receive an incentive from one of the sponsors.

The money gifts are used to purchase special books to go along with the theme.

A weekly special event is planned each week. For more information, visit the library to pick up a calendar or call 989-7943.
