MADAWASKA – Stephanie Cyr of Madawaska was recently enrolled in the National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine, or NYLF-MED, which will take place in Boston July 17-26.
Cyr will join 350 other high school students from around the country who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership potential and an interest in a career in medicine.
The forum will introduce Cyr to many concepts in public health, medical ethics and general practice. NYLF-MED is a nonprofit educational organization that brings various professions to life, empowering young people with the confidence to make well-informed career choices. ORONO – Anna R. Greenlaw celebrated her 90th birthday on April 17 at Orono Commons in Orono. Mrs. Greenlaw was born in Fort Fairfield, formerly lived in Island Falls, and is the widow of Claude Greenlaw. Her family and friends were with her to celebrate.
FORT KENT – Jane Rioux, nurse manager of the emergency room and intensive care unit at Northern Maine Medical Center, has received a scholarship to attend a two-day conference in Philadelphia.
The Key Concepts in Emergency Department Management seminar will provide Rioux with in-depth information about various issues concerning ER management. The scholarship is awarded to two nurses in the country who have been identified as seeking to advance their careers and the emergency nursing profession.
