Orono-Veazie rally eliminates Holbrook

BANGOR – Seth Dwyer hit a two-out, bases-loaded triple in the top of the seventh inning Thursday to cap a four-run rally that lifted Orono-Veazie to a 5-4 victory over Holbrook in the District 3 Junior League baseball all-star tournament being played at Mansfield Stadium.

Darren Casey-Covell added an RBI single in the inning for the winners. Dwyer also singled, while Chase Huckstein posted two singles.

Joe Cookson paced Holbrook, which was eliminated, with a double and two singles. Greg Higgins doubles and singled with an RBI.

Hampden 10, Lincoln 4

At Mansfield Stadium in Bangor, Tyler Miles pitched a two-hitter, striking out 13 and walking four, as Hampden eliminated Lincoln.

Shawn Smith doubled twice and knocked in four runs for the winners. Ethan Jean singled twice with two RBIs and Miles also hit two singles.

Peter Coggins singled with an RBI and Josh Murchison singled for Lincoln.

At Millinocket, Ryan O’Hara stroked a three-run double and a single to help lift Katahdin to victory.

Dakotah Jordan hit an RBI single for the winners.

Jesse McNally hit a run-scoring triple to pace Lincoln, which was eliminated. Jacob Lassonde, Brandon Landry and J.J. Conary each posted an RBI single.

Hermon 17, Glenburn-Levant 9

At Millinocket, Dean Watson singled three times as Hermon picked up the win.

Tyler Fournier tripled and singled while Frankie Chagnon doubled and singled for the winners. Kevin Frederick and Nick Moore added two singles each.

Justin McHugh led Glenburn-Levant, which was eliminated, with a double and a single. Katie McLaughlin and Sean Tocci hit two singles each.
