BREWER – Pat Moran allowed two hits and struck out 12 over six-plus innings and helped his own cause with an RBI double and a run-scoring single Friday night to pace the Brewer Falcons to an 11-5 victory over Orono in Zone 1 American Legion baseball action at Heddericg Field.

Kevin McAvoy hit a three-run triple and two singles good for another RBI for Brewer. Andrew Patterson provided two singles and an RBI.

Brad Goody belted a two-run homer to lead Orono. Dusty Thomas added a double.

At Belfast, James Gray slammed a two-run homer in the first inning to spark Penquis to victory.

Gray also posted a double and a single, totaled four RBIs, and scored twice. Eric Day added a pair of singles and also scored twice.

Jason Wentworth (eight strikeouts, two walks) settled down after giving up a three-run homer to Ken Spaulding in the third to earn the win.

Mike Cummings rapped two singles and scored twice for Waldo.
