Barnes leads Aerus to twinbill sweep

BELFAST – Justin Barnes hit a RBI single in the seventh inning to give Aerus Electrolux a 1-0 win over Montville in the first game of a Bay League baseball weekend doubleheader. Aerus also took the second game 7-0.

In the first game, Zack Reed and Brook Sterdivant each singled for Aerus Electrolux. Gerald Hews and George Tripp both hit a double for Montville.

In the second game, Barns had two singles with two RBIs for Aerus. Tom Caldwell and Pat Hewley each singled twice and scored two runs. Gerald Hews doubled for Montville.

Schoodic sweeps Quirk

At East Sullivan Sunday, Schoodic swept a doubleheader from Quirk of Bangor with a 7-6 victory in the first game and an 8-3 win in the second.

In the first game, Check Wingo singled twice for Schoodic. Aaron Largay hit a two-run home run in the fifth and doubled. Adam Sheehan and Travis Tripp each singled twice.

In the second game, Matt Welch hit three singles and Mike Cowperthwaite added two to pace Schoodic. Largay led Quirk with two.
